In Design
edition #001
Dec 2023 – Jan 2024

Welcome to the first edition of In Design,

where the Designers will summarise all the new additions to the shops throughout the past two months! This is our first edition, which means everything we'll be showcasing for you today has been added to the site since our launch day on December 4. The team have worked hard to bring these items to you and love seeing you purchase them, but we know it can be hard to know what's new and what's not, so we're here to help answer that question!

How does this work? Quite simply, we'll run you through all of the items new to our shops one by one, shop by shop! To view the description for any given item, click on the item title; if you wish to purchase something, click on the shop name to be redirected straight to it. Then, at the end, we'll direct a question to you—giving you the chance to earn yourself a reward out of the items listed!

Enjoy seeing what's new in design!

The Stopped Watch.
Bag of Runestones
Have you always longed to be a True Seer? Maybe your dream career is one of fortune telling cons. Or maybe you just like to fling these shiny stones into the air and see what happens! If this sounds like you, this bag of runestones is your next best purchase. Supposedly, the way they fall is meant to say something or other about one's fate...

The Morning Markets.
Cherry Jam
Cherry works with everything, am I right? On waffles and pancakes, on a piece of toast, and even on ice cream! Sweeten up your dishes with this jam, beloved by many throughout Ravka in particular. It’s jam-tastic!

Drawn by Karhu Ingemar.
Roasted Chestnuts
Waiting for these to fall out of their trees might prove tiresome. Luckily, the morning markets provide you with a delicious treat all day long without you having to wait for anything other than the queue. The perfect snack around wintertime and beloved during the Feast of Sankt Nikolai, you should try to grab a steaming bag of these before you hit the snow!

The Velvet Room.
Hand Mirror
Need a quick check-up but can’t find any mirrors close by? Saints, you’re meeting with that handsome Grisha soon. You have to look your best! Don't worry. This hand mirror is small enough for you to carry around with you everywhere you go. Make sure to always look your best by keeping it handy!

White Handkerchiefs
Here it is at last: a fancy piece of cloth to throw on the ground, right in front of that suitor who's been courting you for many moons. Or perhaps the perfect white flag of surrender to wave in the middle of the Barrel? Who knows, maybe this is just something to blow your nose in. Either way, it's the perfect addition to your pockets!

Drawn by Karhu Ingemar.
Shoe Polish
If you want your shoes to look as sleek and timeless as you, make sure to shine them with some of this shoe polish before you head out the door! You'll have everyone staring at your marvellously shiny feet, like you've always wanted. Isn't that everyone's lifelong dream?

Drawn by Karhu Ingemar.
Pair of Socks
If the singular sock with hole from Past Caring is one of your treasured items, well, it's time for you to get your hands on the pair! Even better, they don't come with any holes (that we know of). Maybe they even belonged to the Emperor in another life. The perfect thing for a fine pair of feet.

The Cracked Spine.
Purple Inkwell
Maybe you're tired of the same old, same old. Or maybe you just want to spruice up your letters! Why not give this purple inkwell a try? The tip of your quill might look black when it's freshly dipped, but you'll soon see a hint of purple on the page – just enough to give all your words that extra bit of flair. Note: stains are particularly potent with this one, so try not to spill.

Crow Feather Quill
Writing is one of the most human experiences, but it's one hundred times better when assisted by a crow. With this high-end crow feather quill, your words will be scribed more sharply and smoothly than ever before! Why not try it out? So long as a real crow doesn't come to poach it off you, this will soon be your favourite writing tool!

Envelope
This trusty envelope ensures the safety of your post, no wrinkles or dog-ears guaranteed! Just fold up your letter nice and tight and slot it inside. Be sure to seal the envelope before sending if you don't want any prying eyes, of course.

Geramsin's Nest.
Viola
What is that melody? Certainly not Wylan's flute, but you might be able to join his orchestra once you've mastered this highly sought-after instrument! Slightly bigger than its sibling, the violin, this instrument can create jaw-dropping sounds when played by a master.

Alley Cats & Co.
Gourmet Animal Food
There are those among us who will do anything for their beloved animals, including ensure they only have the finest-quality wet pet food. Full of nutritional benefits, this gourmet animal mix is supposedly the most delicious way to make sure your pet stays fed and healthy, especially if they're tired of having the same bowl of biscuits for supper every single night. Not for human consumption, allegedly. Suitable for cats and dogs.

Drawn by Aydan Lyons.
Dalmation
You could spot this dog from a mile away! Bouncy, playful and sensitive, this elegant hound might just be your new best friend. If you're looking for a loyal companion with boundless energy or simply a trusty new watchdog, well, you've found it! Best kept out of reach of women in black and white on the hunt for new coats.

Seed & Grain Mix
Pigeons, canaries, blackbirds, whatever you might possess – if they all share one thing in common, it's a love of this seed and grain mix. All you need to do to have an extremely happy bird is pour some of this mixture inot a bird feeder and let it go to town! A variety of seeds and grains are all mixed into this big to give you the happiest bird possible and keep it from looking beaky. Sorry, peaky. Suitable for birds.

Rabbit
Whoever said these cute little creatures were pests must have been off their rocker. Look at those ears! Its quivering nose! Curious and active, this cute little rabbit will be your best friend. Make sure to let it stretch its legs and get some exercise – perhaps you could take it with you wherever you go! Just try to keep it off your neighbour's farm. And maybe don't introduce it to any rabbity love interests, unless you want 100 more pets where this came from.

Drawn by Karhu Ingemar.
Tortoiseshell Cat
Folklore loves these fluffy cats with their eclectic black and orange patterning. Some people believing they can bring good fortune, abundance, love, or even see the future! Regardless of whether your tortoiseshell cat is also a True Seer in disguise, we can assure you this will be a steadfast companion so long as you remember to feed it.

Drawn by Espen Romero.
Corgi
If you found a picture of the word "chonk" in the dictionary, it would be this dog. While this trusty corgi would like to tell you that its real job is as a farm animal, protecting livestock and guarding dogs, you'll quickly forget about its would-be scariness when it rolls over and shows you its tummy. Small, fluffy and loyal, these dogs are smarter than you'd think—and also have a booming bark if you want anyone to think you have a larger hound!

Far-Fetched Feathers.
Red Fox
The farmer's worst foe never looked so cute. Found in all sorts of environments, from lush green wildernesses to tundras, these foxes have supersonic hearing and devilish grins that might just bely their true intentions. They might be out to steal your food, your house and all you've ever held dear, but come on, just look at those bushy tails. They're so cute! Surely they're trustworthy! Right?

Drawn by Karhu Ingemar.
Seagull
Frequently seen around the coast and any bit of hot food which you accidentally drop onto the ground, seagulls are perhaps best known as the pigeons of the sea. White, grey, and determined to circle you when you least expect it, these birds can make fine companions if you make sure to feed them. You might hear them saying moinemoinemoine in your nightmares.

Drawn by Andrei Razumov.
Atlas Day Gecko
These tiny, diurnal lizards are much stronger than they might look, generally living thousands of metres above sea levels in cold, snowy and rocky mountain ranges. Natives of the Petrazoi and Sikurzoi, you might find them basking in the sunshine on the mountaintops on some lucky mornings. "The cold never bothered it anyway," you might say.

Drawn by Andrei Razumov.
Black Snake
The superstitious among us might see a black snake as a bad omn, a sign of something ill to come ... while others might think it makes the perfect pet. If you're drawn to the dark, sleek, mysterious and most likely exceptionally dangerous, well, maybe this is the perfect companion for you! Just don't make it angry. And consider wearing full body armour while handling.

Drawn by Aydan Lyons.
Red-Striped Snake
Native to Shu Han, these nocturnal, black-striped red snakes can be found in arid landscapes, forests and oiases, often near water and above sea level. While these snakes don't have harmful venom, they do have a temper and may not take kindly to being roughly handled! Still, they're a great solution for your pest problem if they don't bite you too much.

Horn of Plenty.
Bottle of Milk
Ah, the trusty plain bottle of milk. If you enjoy the fruits of a mother cow's labour (it really is that peculiar, when you think about it) and want to chug it by the gallon, this is the item for you! Add some of this milk to your tea, cereal, whatever else it is that you fancy. Just don't drink two litres of it in one go unless you want it to come back up again.

Drawn by Karhu Ingemar.
Orange Juice
Somewhere along the lines, orange juice became the perfect breakfast staple, and not for no reason! Just one sip of this delightfully tangy drink will have you ready to go for the rest of the day. And it's not just delicious, but packed with health benefits! Orange you happy we told you?

Drawn by Aydan Lyons.
Sugared Almond Cookies
Reward yourself after a long day of work or study with these amazingly delicious almond cookies. The crunchiness, the sweet flavour and the dusting of sugar on top makes all of us wonder why we didn’t become bakers. Oh well, we can compensate by buying at least ten of these every day and chowing down! That shouldn't make us feel ill at all.

Fair Folkwear.
Emerald & Opal Brooch
This gorgeous brooch is a fine addition to your evening attire or other sort of formal wear, with a blindingly beautiful shine to captivate all passersby. Four pearlescent opals gleam from the corners of the brooch, while a forest-green emerald in the centre catches the eye. You'll certainly draw attention with this pinned to your chest!

Drawn by Karhu Ingemar.
Daffodil Circlet
This is what you wear if you want to make a statement. Made from bronze and gold, this circlet is surrounded by a ring of carved flowers with delicate, shining petals, and is the perfect thing for spring or summer festivities like Belyanoch, Butter Week and Flower Day. You might just want to make sure you have a strong neck before wearing it longer than 20 minutes.

Equid Loriners.
Hoof Pick
If you're the proud owner of a horse, it's time to buy yourself this hoof pick. After a long day of traveling, your horse will appreciate some pampering. Imagine what would happen if you had no access to clean water after walking across muddy pathways all day! This pick is the easiest fix around! Just be sure to handle carefully and only attempt with a horse which is not in a bad temper. You know, just in case.

Riding Boots
Sturdy, warm and comfortable are just some of the ways to desribe this stylish footwear. On top of looking like the trendiest one out of your inner circle, this will bring your chances of falling off the saddle to a minimum. That's a win-win! You could even use these boots to pretend to be an accomplished rider, and we're sure people would believe you.

Sea's End Shipyard.
Gunpowder Barrels
We all have a bit of Wylan in us deep down, don't we? Demolitionists and pyromaniacs alike will be happy to get their hands on these gunpowder barrels, perhaps made even more lethal with the assistance of an Alkemi and Inferni pair. The perfect thing for a ship that needs to stage a quick getaway – preferably with a bang.

Drawn by Aydan Lyons.
Tricorn Hat
Want to look like a true pirate? Sorry, er, privateer. Just grab yourself this fine hat and set it at a jaunty angle atop your head. Everyone who looks at you will know that you're no landlubber, and they'll be staring at you in arr – sorry, awe – as you heave ho and hit the seas.

Backwood Balsams.
Mortar and Pestle
These two tools make the perfect pair for anyone seeking to concoct a new recipe! Beloved by apothecaries and Fabrikators alike. Simply put whatever you mean to crush—some herbs, your foes—into the bowl and use the pestle to grind it to a fine dust or paste. You might find your arms aching by the end of it, but it'll probably be worth your while.

Drawn by Karhu Ingemar.
Bundle of Sage
Some believe that the perfect way to cleanse the energy of a place is to burn a bundle of sage. If you take a bit of this, set fire to the end and then blow out the flame, you'll get an aromatic smoke which is supposedly helpful for healing and reflection. Or you could just try popping it in a garden or an unused flower pot, and let its scent linger in your home!

Drawn by Karhu Ingemar.
Flower Pot
Got some seeds you want to grow? Need somewhere to put that dying plant which doesn't seem to fit in its old pot anymore? Simply want something which could act like a bucket, but is prettier and heavier to hold? Look no further than this trusty ceramic flower pot! The perfect addition to your home, garden, or rampant collection of other pots.

The Limping Inn.
Grilled Sausages
The rundown chef from the Limping Inn has had to put these on their daily groceries list due to the high demand from customers, and is now churning out grilled sausages by the dozen. Grab them while they're still available! They're certain to keep you full until your next meal.

Drawn by Karhu Ingemar.
Scrambled Eggs
The breakfast food of champions! Scrambled eggs have been a staple of the broken fast for as long as anyone knows, and not for no reason. Delicious, filling and full of healthy nutrients, they're just the thing you need when you're on the go – or when you can't quite break the bank for something more expensive. Perfect!

Drawn by Karhu Ingemar.
Pigeon Pie
Don't let the unassuming name turn you away from trying this specialty of the house! Salted, peppered and prepped for a full hour before reaching your table, this pigeon pie makes for the most delectable meal, beloved by many throughout Ketterdam in particular (who seem to find it a funny joke). Just don't ask the chef any questions about where it came from and whether it was cleaned first.

Drawn by Karhu Ingemar.
Dumpling Soup
This traditional soup dish from Shu Han will surely make both your heart and whole body feel full and warm! The salty broth and the savoury dumplings aren’t anything less than perfect together. No wonder it's been loved by families in Shu Han for generations. See if you can resist a second serving, we dare you.

Drawn by Karhu Ingemar.
Mashed Potatoes
Who doesn't love mashed potatoes? Not me, not the chef, and definitely not YEOUW—sorry, you, we don't know why it came out like that. Mashed potatoes are the perfect side to enrich your breakfast, lunch or dinner, so make sure to heap as much of them as you can onto your plate!

Drawn by Karhu Ingemar.
Stir-Fried Noodles
Another staple of Shu dishes, and not for no reason. The chef has fried these noodles until they grew nice and crispy, coated in a delicious sauce that has you salivating just by smell alone. With each bite, you can taste ginger, garlic, bean sprouts, onion, and plenty more. We'd eat this for every meal if we could!
